Dr. Lemos is Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Wayne State University School of Medicine. He serves as President and Chair of the Detroit Sports Medicine Foundation and Director of the Benjamin Paolucci Center for Education and Research.
At the University of Wisconsin, Dr. Lemos matriculated into the MD PhD program where he received his Masters and PhD from the Department of Veterinary Science and his MD from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine. Dr. Lemos then completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Vermont and a sports medicine fellowship at Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic. During Dr. Lemos' fellowship he performed surgery with Dr. Frank Jobe the inventor of the Ulnar Collateral Reconstruction Surgery for Pitchers (Tommy John Surgery). As a fellow he assisted in game coverage and spring training for the LA Dodgers, LA Angels of Anaheim and game coverage for the LA Lakers, LA Kings, Anaheim Ducks, LA Spark and LA Galaxy as well as other sporting events including NBA Summer League, AVP Volleyball and the LA Marathon.
Dr. Lemos is a Sports Medicine Orthopaedic Surgeon who specializes in Arthroscopic Surgery of the shoulder, elbow, knee, and ankle. Dr. Lemos performs many advanced Orthopaedic and Sports-Focused Surgical Procedures, including Elbow Replacement, UCL reconstruction (“Tommy John”) Surgery, Arthroscopic Rotator Cuff Repair, Total Shoulder Arthroplasty, Arthroscopic ACL Reconstruction, MAKOplasty (Partial Knee Replacement), Knee Replacement, and Ankle Stabilization.
Dr. Lemos served as the Head Orthopaedic Surgeon for the Detroit Tigers for 18 seasons and as Orthopaedic Surgeon for the Detroit Pistons for 10 seasons and the Detroit Shock for 3 seasons. He has also served as a consultant to the Detroit Red Wings.
